- Our Lawful Bases for Using Your Information
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for processing personal information.
The lawful basis we rely upon will depend on what information we are processing and why.
Performance of a Contract
We process information where this is necessary to enter into or perform our contract with you.
This includes processing necessary to:
- create and administer your membership;

- provide the services you have purchased;
- administer VoyantGo access;

Legitimate Interests
We may process information where this is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of another organisation, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Our legitimate interests may include:
- operating and improving Sightable;
- understanding how members use the service;
- maintaining platform and account security;
- preventing misuse and fraud;
- providing customer support;
- maintaining appropriate business records;
- protecting our intellectual property;
- managing and developing our business; and
- establishing, exercising or defending legal rights.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether the processing is necessary and proportionate and balance our interests against your rights and reasonable expectations.
Legal Obligations
We may process personal information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, including obligations relating to taxation, accounting, consumer protection, law enforcement or other applicable legal requirements.
Consent
Where required, we may rely on your consent.
This may apply, for example, to certain electronic marketing communications, cookies or similar technologies, or other processing where consent is the appropriate lawful basis.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.
- Financial Information and Special Category Data
Sightable does not require you to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to use the service.
Financial information can be sensitive in an everyday sense, although financial information is not automatically classified as special category data under UK data protection law.
You may nevertheless choose to include information within a financial model, IMS interaction or guidance discussion that reveals special category information. For example, information about future expenditure or planning assumptions could potentially reveal information about your health.
Please avoid providing special category information unless it is genuinely relevant and necessary for the purpose for which you are using the service.
Where we knowingly process special category information, we will only do so where we have both a lawful basis and an appropriate additional condition under applicable data protection law.
- Intelligent Modelling Support and Artificial Intelligence
Sightable’s Intelligent Modelling Support (IMS) uses artificial intelligence technology provided through the OpenAI platform to provide support within the Sightable framework.
When you use IMS, information contained in your prompts and interactions is processed using OpenAI’s technology in order to generate and deliver responses.
Information submitted through Sightable IMS is not used to train or improve OpenAI’s general artificial intelligence models.
IMS does not currently provide persistent conversational memory between separate conversations. You should therefore not assume that IMS will remember information you have provided during an earlier conversation.
You should exercise care when deciding what information to include in an IMS interaction. Wherever possible, avoid providing unnecessary identifying information, special category information or information about other people.
IMS is designed to support your understanding and exploration. It does not make financial decisions on your behalf.
We do not use IMS to make solely automated decisions about you that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects.
- VoyantGo
Where your Sightable membership includes access to VoyantGo, you will be provided with access to Voyant’s financial modelling software through a client-user licence.
Voyant is a third-party software provider. Personal information you enter into VoyantGo is processed through Voyant’s systems and is subject to Voyant’s applicable privacy and data-processing arrangements.
Sightable may process information associated with your use of VoyantGo where necessary to administer your access, provide modelling support and deliver the Sightable service.
You should review the privacy information made available by Voyant when using VoyantGo for further information about how it processes personal information within its systems.
- Who We Share Personal Information With
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share personal information where reasonably necessary with organisations that help us operate and deliver Sightable, including:
- website, membership and course-platform providers;
- hosting and cloud-service providers;
- payment processors;
- financial modelling software providers;
- artificial intelligence and technology providers;
- email and communications providers;
- booking and video-conferencing providers;
- analytics and security providers;
- professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers or compliance advisers; and
- government bodies, regulators, courts or law-enforcement agencies where required or permitted by law.
Where a service provider processes personal information on our behalf, we require appropriate data-protection arrangements to be in place.
Some third parties may act as independent data controllers for information they process. Where this applies, their own privacy notices will explain how they use personal information.
- Financial Advice Businesses
Sightable is independent from any regulated financial advice business with which the Sightable Content Host or a Sightable Guide may also hold a professional role.
We do not routinely share your Sightable personal information with any such financial advice business.
If you decide that you would like to seek regulated financial advice and ask us to introduce you to or share information with a particular adviser or advice firm, we will only share relevant personal information where there is an appropriate lawful basis to do so.
Any financial advice business receiving your information will be responsible for explaining how it processes your personal information for its own purposes.
- Marketing Communications
We may send you service communications that are necessary to administer your Sightable membership. These are not marketing communications and may include information about your account, membership, payments, renewal, security or changes to the service.
We may also send you information about Sightable, educational content, events, products or services where we are permitted to do so.
Where consent is required for electronic marketing, we will ask for it. In other circumstances, we may rely on another lawful basis where permitted by applicable data protection and electronic marketing laws.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option included in the communication or by contacting us.
Opting out of marketing will not prevent us from sending necessary service communications relating to your membership.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Sightable website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, understand how the site is used and, where applicable, support analytics or marketing.
Where required, we will obtain your consent before placing or using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
Further information is available in our Cookie Policy.
- International Transfers
Some of the technology and service providers used to operate Sightable may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that an appropriate legal mechanism and safeguards are in place where required by data protection law.
These may include transfers to countries recognised as providing an adequate level of protection or the use of approved contractual safeguards.
You can contact us if you would like further information about safeguards applying to relevant international transfers.
- How Long We Keep Personal Information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide Sightable and to satisfy legal, accounting, tax, security and record-keeping requirements.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and why we hold it.
In deciding how long to retain information, we consider:
- how long your membership remains active;
- whether the information is required to provide or support the service;
- the nature and sensitivity of the information;
- applicable legal, tax and accounting requirements;
- potential disputes or legal claims; and
- whether continued retention is necessary and proportionate.
When personal information is no longer required, we will delete or anonymise it where appropriate.
- Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or misuse.
No online service or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should also take reasonable steps to protect your account, including keeping your login credentials confidential and using appropriate security measures on your own devices.
If you believe your Sightable account or personal information may have been compromised, please contact us as soon as possible.
- Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights in relation to your personal information.
These may include the right to:
- be informed about how your information is used;
- request access to personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
- receive certain personal information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- raise concerns about how your personal information is being used.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the circumstances and the lawful basis on which information is being processed.
To exercise a data protection right, please contact us at support@sightable.co.uk.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
- Complaints About Your Personal Information
If you have concerns about how we use your personal information, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to investigate and address them.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.
Further information about your data protection rights and how to make a complaint is available from the ICO.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes to Sightable, our technology, our service providers, our data-processing activities or applicable law.
The latest version will be published on the Sightable website with the date on which it was last updated.
